Lets be honest folks when I grew up I was told the police man is my friend. The police man was their to help you and protect you from the criminals thus the term protect and serve. Well, I grew up and I know that's pretty simplistic, but a police man, police woman's, employing police department is judged by the public as only as good as the lowest common denominator (police officer) which is the worst police man , police woman, police officer.

Talk about a real man and a Hero, Carl E. Andolina a Buffalo NY Cop charged and took down a stupid coward of a late teen, a 19 or 20yrs old black youth who's parents claim has mental problems. The 12th grader pulled a gun on Police Officer Carl E. Andolina and his partner Police Officer Patricia A. Parete and point blank shot his partner Patricia A. Parete and shot Carl E. Andolina in the neck. Both police officers had powder burns on them from the teen youth with a gun being so close to them, Patricia A. Parete is still fighting for her life, god bless them both.
This is why I say guns are for cowards, 30 yrs ago this youth would have lost his temper and got into a fist fight with these cops (actually he probably would have ran away) or would have done nothing because the cops would have had guns and he wouldn't have had a gun and the idiot thug of a youth would have spent the night in jail, ended up in jail for a couple of weeks or on probation and everyone would have gone on with their lives as usual, but because the proliferation of illegal guns and teens with guns everyone's life can end in a split second and two cops lives have changed forever, along with the stupid teen's, guns give every coward out there the guts they don't have in them. It takes a real man and heroic actions to run at someone that is shooting at you and take him down, but any coward or clown can pop a few bullets out at someone, it's a cowardly act, it's not Macho, it doesn't prove anything, illegal guns just make it to easy to kill in anger.
This is also why I say your a better man than me if your a good cop. I wouldn't be able to stop if I had charged that gun totting teen and if I was a cop and I had a gun on me, I would have pulled it out and shot the perp dead in anger for shooting my partner and I in the neck. I would have shot the perp even after pinning the thug down on the ground. That teen would be laying their dead too. That's why a cops job is so tough!
Since the perpetrator is in custody and not out and wanted, I refuse to mention his name on this site with these brave cops.

Actually, I will go one step further and say that communities where police treat the general public and small business owners more fairly and practice integrity actually stimulate economic growth and wealth by not burdening the honest or good intending populace and businesses with the damage cause by investigations of what should be civil matters. This increases the tax base over the long run. Lets face it, the only people that can survive such investigations whatever the out come is, are companies with unlimited resources. I will say the Amherst NY detectives are a smart bunch of guys when judging civil or criminal and waste of time or malicious prosecution and its not that I haven't butted heads with them over things, but if you talk to them they seem to be able to figure what's what and back off if their first response was wrong. This is what some cops can't seem to do.
Some police departments are hard on criminals such as Las Vegas Metro Police, but fair to non criminals.
I find that State Police are the most professional and responsive to dealing with the general public.
I am also going to say I am really impressed with the NFTA WNY Police when I had a problem with a traffic person, actually persons at the Airport( they looked like prison convicts and where rude and yelling at everyone), the Chief: Joseph Riga actually called me, listened to what I said, addressed my concerns and made the appropriate changes and they the traffic people are much more professional now. They actually have a complaint form on their web site, Police departments that have a complaint process that they don't hide are committed to integrity and professionalism.
Some people will disagree, but I think the Buffalo NY Police are cool. They don't hassle you for speeding unless you run them off the road. If you have a party they may bust in and they break it up and let everyone go, and if your straight with them they may laugh but they will let you go and their pretty good judges of character. They don't bother with minor stuff and are usually pretty good with the general public.
I also, I believe that police men, police woman, police officers shouldn't issue tickets to other off duty police men, police woman, police officers, prison guards, court officials, and civilians, and family in these departments or fire departments full time or volunteer for speeding, illegal parking and minor infractions. The reasoning behind this is. If a police man, police woman, police officer don't pay respect to others in their field, or related fields, what kind of respect do you think police men, police woman, police officers, police departments are going give the general public?
I also don't have a problem when a police men, police woman, police officer lets the handicapped and the elderly slide for minor infractions. I also don't have a problem when police men, police woman, police officers, police departments let the business and people who donate their money, goods and services, or give discounted goods and services to police men, police woman, police officers, police departments, the PBA the youth leagues and other police associations a slide for minor infractions. It goes double for community police, policing organizations, neighborhood watch, block crime prevention clubs and the sort.
To the contrary, if you don't know whose got your back as a police man, police woman, police officer, police department and who you can rely on in the civilian population for help and support and to report crimes and be your eyes and ears you shouldn't be a police man, police woman, police officer, cop and if you are, your probably no good at being police man, police woman, police officer!

They should be able to make copies from it, but never delete the original, this would protect the police woman, police man, police officer, police department, the public, and also last and least the criminals rights.

Some places in my opinion are just plain police states and the local police men, police woman, police officers, police departments run rampant answering to nobody, doing whatever the police man, police woman, police officers want, one example in the news being New Orleans Police Department, but I am not talking about the Police men, police woman, police department there and I have never been there.
This is usually the fault of the police chief and law makers for not implementing proper procedure and oversight and rules in their police departments for the police men, police woman, police officer in there police department's. I am not talking about the occasional free meal for police man, police woman, police officer, or discounted meal for police men, police woman, police officer, cop or free coffee for police, police men, police woman, police officer, cop. Also, I am not talking about police men and police woman, police officers that drive there police car over the posted speed limit or use there police car red light because they don't feel like waiting for the light.
Police, police men, police woman, police officer, cops that drive with their head lights off at night if your going over 5 miles an hour, especially in residential areas, where kids are located and might be playing street ball or hockey or riding there bikes or crossing the streets. Hey I went to high school with this guy and his brother, I like all of them, but he was always the guy with pot for sale in high school, some things never change, a lot of people use to say hey cool a cop that smokes pot. Good Cop family. Do they still own that bar? Former employee of mine married into the family good guys! Don't advertise! Especially if it makes you do illegal things! Hey, if it mellows you out and you keep it to your self at home, you can always say it was a contact buzz from interaction with perps, but I would suggest just getting Prozac and therapy.

I have no respect for the police, police men, police woman, police officer, cops that day job is for them, and my day job employer has never been charged, or convicted is not an excuse for you or your department.
Everyone who has lived in a specific area for a number of years knows what the score is and your chief of police or police captain or police lieutenant should be approving or disproving all moonlighting with this in mind. Everyone should get approval from someone up the ladder and everything should be reviewed by the police chief monthly. This isn't fool proof either because the best jobs for these people go to the Captains and Lieutenants as far as I have seen, its just these police get the pick of the crop working for the real power at their legitimate businesses. No bar duty for them.

That is a problem. If you let that bar stay open past legal hours and serve under aged drinkers while you turn a blind eye in exchange for free drinks and meals you shouldn't be a police men, police woman, police officer, cop, or a Judge.
Illegal actions by police, police men, police woman, police officers, cops repaying or not just ignoring, but approving or encouraging illegal activity or participating in illegal activity for the benefits of the free services or money, that's a problem.

A Missouri Judge let a pedophile child rapist that rapped a 9 yr old girl out on probation when the prosecutor asked for 15 yrs prison sentence. In my opinion only a child molester rapist judge would let a child molester rapist walk without any jail time. If he sentenced the molester to jail he would have to see his own sickness in himself and since he probably thinks he is above the law he made a decision that shows his contempt for the law and all that want child molesters like himself in jail.
I am amazed to find out just like the grand mother shot to death by Atlanta police , a bride groom and his buddies where shot to death in a car by NYC Police after coming out of a strip joint for his bachelor party. They where shoot 50 times because his car tried to run over a undercover cop pointing a gun at them. My question is did theses cops get out of bed in the morning and forget they are not wearing a uniform? If you are under cover as a cop, the rule should be you can only shoot at a suspect if a civilian's life is in mortal danger from the suspect or suspects and your own life is expendable, unless the suspect is escaping from custody after being in your custody first.

The best way to gain the trust and admiration of the public is to be fair in your dealings with them. I learned this a long time ago in business, if I could convert the most obnoxious, hard headed, loud mouth, disbelieving person to my side by cutting him a break and being fair or more than fair. I not only would have a customer for life. I would have a champion of my cause for life, that person would go on and tell everyone he meet what a great person, product and business I had, and send people my way almost weekly. Don't waste traffic stops, which can not only be tools for searching cars and catching criminals (as the case with Bucky), but also by not writing tickets for marginal or non-existing infractions because the driver disagrees with your reason for stopping them, especially when you had to follow that person for miles before they made a driving mistake or you got tired of looking for one and pulled them over. By not writing that ticket, you can make traffic stops a way for getting non-criminals, the general public on your side, police men, police woman, police officer, cops side and talking about it.
Police, police men, police woman, police officer, cop that follow you more that 3 separate times in a year if your not a criminal, if you tail someone enough times you are going to find something wrong and an excuse to pull them over. Same reasoning against it as above.
When 100 or police, police men, police woman, police officers, cops of the police department fill up and line up in a town meeting and stare down and intimidate an out spoken town board member who is critical of that police department with the blessing of The Former Chief of Police, thus interfering with the process of making law and the civil liberties of every one in that town. After that, his outspokenness stopped because of the coercion. That's a problem. Hey this was in Buffalo News.
The effect those actions was a bloodless coupe. This is not Uganda or Russia, it is the USA.
If Police, police men, police woman, police officer, cops or your department are ticketing people for going 1-10 miles over the speed limit your running a ticket mill like in my opinion order of infamously, North Tonawanda, Kenmore, Evans, Tonawanda, also Lancaster and Depew which are much better than they use to be. Cheektowaga use to be really bad but no longer is a ticket mill in my book, I would say they are the police force that has change the most for the better as it relates to traffic infractions in the last 10 yrs in WNY but still have some really bad apples they need to retire or get rid of that are bringing the good cops down.
Lockport is in a category in my opinion all itself for ticket fraud, they actually Radio control the school warning signs and have been know to turn the sign on after a car passes it then stop and write the car a ticket for speeding in a school zone, I have seen it. State law now sets school zone speeds at 25 MPH and has outlawed flashing school signs and sets exact hours that can't be changes by local law, probably to prevent this sort of ticket fraud.
Lockport also has the distinction of SAIA V. PEOPLE OF STATE OF NEW YORK , 334 U.S. 558 (1948) in which the US supreme court set the test for noise laws at decibel level and restricted hours in 1952 yet almost every local in NY State have illegal noise laws and disorderly conduct laws that are still being enforced without regard to this ruling and hundreds after it.
Police officers die for there mistakes trying to keep themselves alive while keeping the public safe but are taught and practice staying alive before saving the public. This is why in Columbine CO so many students died. The sheriffs where more worried about their own safety before the kids that where left unprotected. Cops hiding behind dieing kids I would call it. Yes now most police departments tell there officers to go into schools without backup now, but that was because of public outcry.
The sad thing is a lot of people get into law enforcement for the privilege and power of the position and the respect that comes with it. This was so widespread during the Clinton administration that all FBI agents wanted to be in DC, the same with CIA, ATF, DEA and nobody wanted to be in the field because that is not where the power or prestige was. This is why 9-11 wasn't stopped before it happened.
